The Adventures of Flat Christina

I've had enough sadness for one week. I can't believe how hard it was to go through putting Emit down. I cleaned the house today, getting rid of the last of the dog hair, for the last time. I put away all his toys and accessories. I gave away his milkbones and the rest of his food. Jesse and I don't have children, so Emit was our boy, and we were his "mama" and "dada". We had a ridiculously strong emotional bond with him, and now he's gone.

My house is clean, I'm painting a wall that I've been wanting to paint for 2 years, and I made my flat Christina for this crazy thing that I'm doing where you send a paperdoll of yourself through a sorta chain to others and then everytime you get somebody else's paperdoll you photograph it in different places doing things with you. It's kinda hard to explain...you'll see! Anyway, I needed something happy to do with all the sadness and stress lately.

Jesse and Christina,
We are all so sorry for your loss. Emit was a very special dog! So sweet and funny, fun loving and precious! You guys did a great job training him and taking care of him he was definatly part of the family and will be greatly missed.
Love,
Holly

Now I understand what the flat 'dolly' thing is all about! Joscie has been doing it for a little while now, but I just didn't get what is was all about. Cute idea!

I understand....everytime I cut a carrot, I think I should save some for Minty, but he's not here anymore. I read a poem by Tennyson yesterday, I'm sure you've heard this before:

"Tis better to have loved and lost, Than never to have loved at all."

Letting Emit go was the last loving thing you could do for him. It's horrible and heartbreaking to do, but you proved to him how much you loved him by letting him go. Slowly but surely, the pain will dull. I hope that your wonderful memories will soon outweigh the pain you are in right now.
Take care,
Julie

I'm very sad that you're sad :( It is SO HARD losing a dog. From experience, it will get better. You'll always miss him, but you will start remembering how much he made you smile instead of remembering the sadness you feel now. HUGS!

Just read about Emit. I'm so sorry you lost him. The way you describe him in the last post, it reminds me a lot of my doggie who is getting old. They become such a part of our hearts, don't they? I can't imagine the pain you feel & I'm sorry again.
